Sunday, for many, is a day where one sleeps through the morning, wake up for breakfast-in-bed or brunch, read the papers, sip a little coffee, watch a bit of telly and basically just lounging the entire day.
I did all those yesterday. Woke up late, watched some cartoons, read the Sunday Times, ate brunch and had my coffee. Then I just slumped in one corner waiting for time to pass. I headed for the gym at around 2. Many people but still manageable. I went through the normal routine of weights and a fair bit of jogging. Tired and aching but the major sweating at the end of every workout is incomparable, bringing a sense of slimness and satisfaction hehe.
It was already about
A humble and polite waiter, Zulkifli, took down our orders of Teriyaki Chicken Classic Caesar, Portobello Mushroom and Melted Swiss Cheese on Walnut Sesame Sandwich, Caramel Toffee Latte and Vanilla Milkshake. Conversations turned to gossips and bitching ensued. Those ceased when the delectable food arrived, tantalising the tastebuds. Oh simply divine!
A swirl of ideas, a mash of thoughts and next we ended up at a spa located around the area. It was my maiden foray going for such a luxurious treatment (It was his 5th time I think haha). A perfect time for some indulgence. We signed up for ginger body scrub, rain shower therapy and bodywork massage. A bit of a long wait as it was the weekend but it was well worth the wait.
The ginger body scrub was excellent. The salt crystals rubbed deeply by the masseur might be a little abrasive at first but as my tense body relaxed, I just laid there like a piece of wagyu beef being manhandled albeit with sensually. It was all done professionally. All danders stripped off and the skin smoothened and glowed. My skin had never felt so soft and supple to the touch before. I was literally gleaming and smiling with pure satisfaction.
I was given an aromatic soap rub to wash away the salt and what came next was really relaxing. Two shower heads above rained down warm water on my body. Tingly but so soothing. The masseur did a final scrub and washed off all traces of salt. An hour and a half of both the ginger body scrub and rain shower therapy seemed so short!
Last was the bodywork massage. Enough said, it loosened all the tight muscles, unwound the frayed nerves and stiff joints. The deep rubbing action was really amazing. The masseur was truly a master of his craft. Every touch, every press and every pull was executed perfectly and professionally. The entire session lasted for 2 hours and 15 minutes. I was attended with undivided attention and care. I have a new level of respect for masseurs or any other kind of physical therapists. It was no easy feat having to expend such effort and energy massaging others. And for that length of time, I think I would have just given up the job. For that, all due respect and gratitude for my masseur (I did not get to find out his name though hehe anyway he’s a China guy. We conversed in a smattering of Chinese).
It was quite a hefty price to pay for 2 hours and 15 minutes of massage - $125 in all. But hell, it was all worth every penny! We had a great time feeling all rejuvenated and fresh and clean. A great way to start off another hectic working week. And no, it is not an excuse. We need some pampering occasionally to relieve the stress and indulge in some form of relaxation alright! We will be back for more….anyone wanna join? =)
